DISTINGUISHED DIVERSITY AWARD
The UNCW Alumni Association presents the annual Distinguished Diversity Award to an individual that has made exceptional efforts and contributions in the areas of diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and social justice either through their professional and/or volunteer accomplishments. This award is to acknowledge an individual that demonstrates a commitment to the university and Alumni Association's mission, vision, and values.
CRITERIA
• Candidate must be a UNCW or Wilmington College graduate and/or have made significant contributions to UNCW related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Candidate must demonstrate a sustained commitment to the values of diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and social justice.
• Candidate must demonstrate significant contributions to their surrounding community for diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and social justice.
• Special consideration is given to an alumnus/a who has been involved in diversity, equity, access, and inclusion efforts with UNCW as a volunteer, mentor, alumni employer, ambassador, and/or investor.
• Self-nominations are not accepted.
• The award may be made posthumously.
NOMINATION FORM REQUIREMENTS
Please have the following prepared before starting the online submission process:
• Biographical information on candidate and nominator.
• Nomination statement that includes clear examples reflecting how the individual’s accomplishments match award criteria.
• Additional documentation to support nomination if necessary, i.e., information about awards or honors received, press releases or news articles citing involvement.
• Candidate's CV or resume
PROCESS
• Nominations must be received in full by October 15, 2023.
• Nominations will be reviewed by the Alumni Association Awards and Scholarship Committee.
• Candidates not selected will be considered for the awards for up to one year, as long as they continue to meet the award criteria.
